📰 Google News Scraper

Collect public articles from Google News for any search: headline, publisher, article link, and publish time. Pick the country and language edition, limit the time window, and get up to about 100 articles per run. No login, no API key, and you pay only for articles that are saved.

✨ Why use Google News Scraper?

  • 💸 Cheap — $0.004 per article ($4 per 1,000), plus a small amount of platform usage.
  • ⚡ Fast — a 10-article run took about 15 seconds on test runs, and 100 articles about 30 seconds.
  • 🌍 Any edition — set the country (gl) and language (hl), such as de and de for German headlines.
  • 🕒 Time windows — last hour, day, week, month, year, or a custom date range.
  • 🔗 Publisher links — links point at the publisher article when Google News resolves them.
  • 🧹 Clean empty runs — a query that matches nothing saves no rows and charges no result fee.

🎯 Use cases

  • 👀 Topic monitoring — watch a company, person, or keyword on a schedule.
  • 🧾 Media coverage reports — gather the articles and publishers covering a story.
  • 🔬 Research datasets — build a list of headlines and links for a topic and time window.
  • 📬 News digests — fill a newsletter or alert with the latest articles.
  • 🌐 Regional comparison — compare coverage of the same topic across country editions.

Worked example: a 100-article run costs $0.40 in article fees, plus the platform usage of the run (about $0.02 on a measured run).

❓ FAQ

Is it legal to scrape Google News? The actor reads the public Google News feed without logging in. You are responsible for how you use the data and for following local law and the publishers' and Google's terms.

Do I need a login, API key, or proxy? No. A datacenter proxy is configured by default.

How many articles can I get? Up to 100 per run, which is about as many as the public feed returns for a query.

Where does the snippet come from? The public feed has no excerpt, so the actor reads the short description the publisher puts on its article page. Some publishers block automated visits or have no description, and their rows keep an empty snippet.

What if my query matches nothing? The run finishes with an empty dataset and no result fee.

Can I schedule it or use the API? Yes, through schedules in the console or the API.

⚠️ Limits

  • One query per run, and about 100 articles, which is what the public feed returns.
  • No thumbnail, because the feed does not include it. The snippet is empty for publishers whose article page cannot be read or has no description.
  • A publisher link that cannot be resolved stays as the Google News article URL.
  • Country and language use the Google News edition settings. Switches for language restriction, country restriction, and autocorrect are not available because the feed ignores them.
  • Very unusual queries can still return a few loosely related articles, because Google News matches them against recent coverage.
